Australia has developed a new technology that just might be the solution to the energy crisis that the world is currently facing. The technology has been developed by Infratech Industries, an Australian company in collaboration with University of Newcastle. The technology ‘Energy-on-Demand’ overcomes the environmental issues and predictably that storage solutions and renewable energy is currently plagued with.

The company’s Chemical Looping Energy on Demand System (CLES) puts the management, production and distribution of power, hydrogen and oxygen into the consumers’ hands. Prime Minister Hon. Malcolm Turnbull MP describes this as a technology that will solve energy crisis and allow for integrated oxygen generation heating and cooling ventilation, water heating, hydrogen production and power generation.

Priority Research Centre’s director at Frontier Energy Technologies and Utilization at Newcastle Institute for Energy and Resource’s Professor Behdad Moghtaderi says that the Infratech CLES system is incomparable to any other systems in the entire world.

Founder and CEO of Infratech Industries, Dr. Rajesh Nellore says that the momentum on batteries can be increased with the momentum on the system’s ability to create energy. This creates energy on demand, which offers a number of benefits. The system has no negative impact and simply improves the lifestyle and wellbeing of people who use it.

Climate Change and Energy’s shadow assistant minister Pat Conroy, who introduced CLES at University of Newcastle, told audience once again the importance of industry and government looking for different solutions. The system was a huge relief for Australia and ensured that people will no longer have to deal with energy crisis in the future.

Chemical Looping Energy on Demand System (CLES)

The development of the technology was co-led by University of Newcastle’s Professor Behdad Moghtaderi and his team, who created the system’s advanced thermo chemical process. The technology itself comes from his own invention that was patented by University of Newcastle. According to the professor, it has a number of features, which makes it stand out. It has a poly-generation process that simultaneously produces hot water, oxygen, power, chilled water and heat. Its overall efficiency is 90%.

The CLES’s temperature is balanced by natural gas, which makes it extremely reliable. It has no intermittency as compared to other renewable energy sources and emits only one third of green gas emissions of fossil fuels.

According to Dr. Nellore, the system works 24/7 and in order to continue reaction in the particle mixture, it needs external heat. The heat can either be supplied by the system, from renewable electricity energy resources or natural gas.

The CLES system can also work on a large scale such as commercial complexes and hospitals. For smaller installations, it’s quite beneficial for medical therapy customers. It’s also possible that in the future, it might create fuel cell car’s hydrogen network. The system can be switched to a number of combinations for creating only oxygen and power, or hot water and hydrogen.

With the university’s inauguration of its new institute and the CLES system, it can produce energy, oxygen, hydrogen, heating, cooling and hot water for thirty homes. In eighteen months, Australian homeowners can buy the CLES system.
