Energy efficiency is a major passion of Solomon Freer and a driving ethos behind much of her career trajectory.
Starting her engineering studies at UNSW, Solomon worked with distinguished Professor Martin Green on a thesis project aimed at developing a 46% efficient solar power system by optimising the way different ‘colours’ of light were absorbed. Solomon’s subsequent PhD research interrogated the quantum limits of efficiency using single phosphorus atoms in ultra-pure silicon.
Now, Solomon is passionate about making a direct impact on the wasteful inefficiencies of modern industry. She delights in overseeing the reduction of energy consumption made possible through the Energy Savings Scheme and is eager to advocate for the expansion of it and of similar schemes, worldwide.
