The CPRS

Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme CPRS

The Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme, which was recently introduced by the federal government, will require approximately 1000 organisations to report their carbon emissions and purchase permits for every tonne of CO2 they release.

Every organisation that has a facility with direct emissions of 25 kilotonnes CO2e per year  will be covered by the scheme and required to purchase permits.

Is your business required to report its emissions?

Find out by undertaking a detailed NGER Report.

Education Courses

CRI has a suite of educational services to prepare your organisation for the upcoming Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme (CPRS) and a carbon constrained economy. The course topics examine both risks and opportunities associated to climate change and the Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme (CPRS).

The courses are designed with enough time to cover the presentation and allow for 15-30 minutes questions and answers. Presentation material is provided to each attendee.

CRI offers the following courses:

Course 001

Course 001

Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme overview, how will it affect your business?

(2 hours – Facilitator: Rob Cawthorne - $ 2000.00)
(Maximum 10 attendees)

Recommended Audience: Executive Board

This interactive session provides an overview of the CPRS; how it will affect your corporation, as well as the risks and opportunities that exist. It will also answer any other questions you may have regarding the proposed CPRS and climate change.

Course 002

Calculating direct carbon impacts, identifying reduction opportunities and preparing your marginal cost of abatement curve.

(3 Hours – Facilitator: Rob Cawthorne - $ 4000 + $100pp)
(Maximum 30 attendees)

Recommended Audience: Facilities managers, production mangers, sustainability managers, and engineers.

This workshop will prepare your workers, focusing on production managers, facilities managers and engineers for the proposed CPRS scheme.

This course will present examples of reduction opportunities and how to build these opportunities into a model that advises decision makers on the least cost path for compliance with requirements under CPRS.

Upon completion of the course attendees will understand how to calculate carbon from electricity use, fuel use and from direct releases of greenhouse gases, enabling them to determine which reduction opportunities to implement at different carbon prices. Ultimately your staff will be prepared to calculate a company’s marginal cost of abatement

Course 003

Devising a carbon management strategy

(Half Day – Facilitator: Rob Cawthorne - $ 3000 + $100pp)
(Maximum 30 attendees)

Prerequisites: courses 1 and 2

Recommended Audience: Facilities managers, production mangers, sustainability managers, and engineers.

Includes courses 1 and 2 plus an additional half day session at a later date (we suggest a week) which combines the findings of courses one and two to devise a carbon management strategy for your corporation.

The presentation will include a presentation of a case study carbon management plan detailing the challenges involved with integrating engineering auditing data and identification of reduction opportunities into financial planning with relation to the CPRS.

Upon completion of course 3 attendees should:

· Have an in depth understanding of NGERS and the CPRS
· Know to calculate their organisations greenhouse gas emissions, opportunities
· Be able to identify opportunities for reducing their liability under CPRS
· Be empowered to formulate the best approach to minimise the costs of CPRS compliance for their organisation

Please note that travel costs are will be added for providing these course outside of Sydney.   These costs do not include venue hire.
