Climate change and business

Climate change has emerged as the key challenge of the 21st century, and is increasingly prioritised in national and global political agendas.

This increase in public awareness has seen businesses throughout Australia take initiative to reduce their carbon footprint, purchase carbon credits and even become carbon neutral. By becoming leaders in action against climate change, businesses leverage the increased public awareness to gain strategic benefits such as strengthened brand awareness, press and media, employee value proposition, staff retention, and attractiveness to environmentally conscious consumers and businesses.

Sustainability reporting and performance measures are increasingly common as organisations position themselves to understand and act in regards to climate change issues and their environmental accountability.

Sustainable Corporate Culture

The creation of an environmentally sustainable corporate culture, underpinned by responsible business practices, has potential to differentiate organisations from competitors and enhance their market position – now and in the future.

Creating a sustainable culture within your organisation is one of the most effective ways for your business to reduce its carbon footprint.

The NoCO2 Staff Education Program is one step in response to climate change. We look forward to working with you to create and leverage a sustainable corporate culture as you take action against climate change.

Environmental credentials important to Gen Y - poll

A new poll suggests Gen Y jobseekers are more likely to be attracted to "green" employers.

In a poll of 1,600 graduates, carried out by talent management provider Onetest, 73% of respondents said the carbon footprint of a prospective employer was an important factor in whether or not they took the job.

Some 75% said an employer's commitment to social and charitable activities was also important to them.

Onetest managing director Steve Dahl said that far from being self-absorbed, today's graduates were environmentally and socially idealistic, and would choose employers with similar values.
